UV curable ink
Our printers run Nazdar UV-LED curable ink, from a U.S. manufacturer whose inks have been tested extensively in real-world use. High-quality ink is what protects your print heads, so this is the part of the running cost worth getting right.

What the ink has to do
Low viscosity
Formulated for machines that do not need the ink heated to jet at a given specification, which keeps the ink system simpler and more predictable.
Cures under UV-LED
Displays market-acceptable surface cure under UV-LED curing, which is what lets the print be dry as the head passes.
Low odor
Designed to have a low odor, which matters when the machine is running in a building that stays open.
Holds up outdoors
Long-term exterior performance with proven resistance to UV degradation and color fade.
Broad adhesion
Adheres across a range of flexible and rigid substrates, with a high attraction to vinyl and polycarbonate.
Low clogging risk
A low risk of nozzle clogging, which means smoother operation and less maintenance. High-quality ink is what protects the print heads.

The ink series covers five colors. Our printers run five of them — cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white — with white printing behind CMYK or on its own to build a base on dark surfaces.

Coverage figures are estimates from typical use, and include ink consumed by routine maintenance as well as by printing. See our disclaimer.
Use the 260 or 270 series. Ink from outside those series voids your warranty, and it prints the wrong colors — the machines are optimized around the specific shades these inks produce, so the difference is visible rather than subtle. Buy it wherever you like; it just has to be the right ink.
Handling and safety
Treat the liquid ink
like the chemical it is
Cured ink on a wall and liquid ink in a bottle are two different things. The finished print is what your building sees; the liquid ink is a workshop chemical, and whoever handles it should know that.
Handle the liquid ink with the right protection
Uncured UV-curable ink is a chemical product. The safety data sheet calls for chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection and adequate ventilation, and warns against eating, drinking or smoking while handling it. Anyone filling tanks or flushing heads should read the sheet first.
Store it properly
Keep containers tightly closed between 65°F and 90°F (18°C to 32°C), in a dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight and away from open flames or hot surfaces. Keep out of reach of children.
Dispose of it under local rules
Contain and dispose of waste ink according to local regulations, and keep it out of drains and waterways. Empty containers go to an approved waste handling site.
Give the sheet to whoever asks for it
Facilities and environmental health teams routinely request a safety data sheet before equipment is approved. Ours is on this page — send it to them directly.
